Interfaces and Interoperability

Do you have a single tool that covers all your interfaces?

The definition of interoperability is the ability of a system, software, or product to exchange and make use of information with other systems, software or products without special effort on the part of the user. For two systems to be interoperable, they must be able to exchange data and subsequently present that data in an understandable way.

In comparison to suppliers, OEMs have it easy when it comes to interoperability (Fig. 1). OEMs have their standard applications and hence also their standard interfaces.

Suppliers, however, need to provide an environment capable of covering the whole range available within the OEMs they serve. Having a good and reliable toolbox to cover import and export functionalities is essential.

Entire car bodies can be exported e.g. from CATIA and carried over to alsim Data Cleaning Merge for fully automatic Data Cleaning and 3D meshing. Export functionalities allow results to be exported e.g. NX. Other interfaces can write into, e.g., native Star-CCM+ file format, Fluent mesh or Open Foam.
